Vancouvergram || Day 01

As I type away on my laptop, BANKS' album 'Goddess' plays softly from the speakers and my eyes glance out the window to double-check I'm really still here. It's my first day (ever) in Vancouver, British Columbia and I'm seated in a chair that I have purposefully positioned to look out the giant windows. As someone that grew up, and spends most of her life, in a town rather than a city I think I've never really understood what it's like to be in that kind of atmosphere. Sure, I've spent days in Toronto and went to university in another Canadian city but there's a certain kind of perspective you get from living right there, in the heart of a city. I'll be staying in downtown Vancouver for the next few weeks and I'm telling you, if today is any indicator of what it's like to live full-time in a city then you can sign me up.

I started my day with a little cable tv while I got ready (I'm a netflix gal so whenever I travel I always indulge in a little TV, today I watched a restaurant review show called Million Dollar Critic). Next, I headed off to Starbucks (caramel brulée latte, soy, no whip) and strolled my way on over to Chapters to pick up #Girlboss. The online reviews and mentions of this book have been everywhere lately and after reading the first chapter in-store I agreed with what the universe (or rather, the internet) was trying to tell me: I needed to buy it. Thinking that I should probably figure out something to eat, I turned the corner only to realize I was in some sort of shopping district. When you stumble upon an Urban Outfitters and an American Apparel as well as a myirad of other stores it's like you owe it to yourself to check 'em out, am I right? I did a little browsing (and a little buying too) before coming back to the apartment and reading some more of #Girlboss. I'm seventy-five pages in and loving it. I'm also loving the city-experience.

How was your day? Did you try anything new?
Till next time weekenders,
x Jenn

  1. Ah, to be able to just stumble upon Urban Outfitters. Living in Kentucky is lame! Brrr, but it looks cold there! (It's actually below freezing here, too, haha.)

    1. I don't have an Urban Outfitters close to my house so it was definitely a highlight in my day to find the UO! It was pretty chilly but I heard it snowed in some places today - crazy!

  3. Ah, I've been all over BANKS lately, such perfect music to go with the 4 PM darkness nowadays! And this is yet another sign I need to read #Girlboss as well; I'm just so picky with books and have to be sure I'll enjoy the writing style/voice or else it won't work - good to know you're loving it :)

    1. I discovered BANKS last week and I've been obsessed ever since. I'm totally listening to her right now, actually - as I stare out at the 4pm darkness haha. I haven't finished #Girlboss yet but honestly, I recommend giving it a read in the store. After one or two chapters you'll get a sense of what it's like and I'm pretty into it. It's written like a blog post by Sophia Amoruso herself.

    1. I'm super biased but I think it's probably one of the best places to be during the autumn! We have a lot of trees everywhere and it's gorgeous to see them change colours.

  7. Your experience in the city sure sounds fun. I love to do all these things alone at times. I'm a city girl coz we live in a city state and so I value the rustic areas I visit. Have a great weekend!

      Hi Jenn, Thanx for visiting back. I'm glad to see you here coz I love 2-way communication and interaction with fellow blog authors. Ah, and before I reply you here, I made sure I clicked around your blog for some "about me" section to get to know you better, esp after I see the part when you said you just filmed a movie. Totally got me interested in what you do. Travelling is great especially to get away from the stress at work and just to soak in new knowledge and culture. Ah, you're a vegetarian? You have to avoid my blog at times when I post on food coz we might just become enemies. Haha... Appreciate your sharing, Jenn and thanx for the follow. I would follow you back too; I'm sure we could get along well!
